Murals of Phoenix
Connecting Art and Community.
I consider myself an Angeleno now, after living in LA for over ten years. In March of 2020, at the beginning of what would be the largest pandemic in a century, I traveled home, to Arizona. Presently, I have been "quarantined' in the suburbs of Phoenix for two months. No matter where I live in the world, Arizona will always be home, will always remain a part of my heart. I grew up in the desert and every now and then it calls to me.
Due to the current pandemic, there are new restrictions on the way we live our lives, a new normal. I've learned to explore the state I grew up in, in an unfamiliar way, in a solitary way. Sometimes I do it for exercise, sometimes to document what's happening in the world and sometimes for my own sanity. And by doing this, I have fallen in love with this"Grand" state all over again. Exploring the streets of Phoenix, scavenging for the hundreds of murals created by it's artists, I walked around the silent city and escaped the confinement of isolation. Always in a safe, solo, social distancing kind of way. Here's some of the remarkable art I captured along the way...

Founded in 2014 by artists, photographers and art enthusiasts around Arizona, the Murals of Phoenix purpose is to share the beauty that surrounds it's community. Their main goal is to tell each artist’s story in a positive and meaningful way, which supports and promotes each artist's work. Using the city as a background, provides the creators a platform to share their narrative and strengthen ties with the community. With the interactive map (LINK TO MAP), these murals have become treasure hunts for locals and visitors alike.
